Visa Guide: India & US | A Step-by-Step Application

This page contains detailed information on the application process for visas for India and the USA. Since November 2011, all visa applications for India can only be submitted online. The rules for completing the application form, the requirements for the photo (5×5 cm biometric photo, light background, taken from the front) and the required signatures are explained step by step. For applicants residing in the UK, it is important to know which visa application center (London, Birmingham, or Edinburgh) to submit their documents to. Agencies that offer assistance in German to people who have difficulty completing the English form are also mentioned.

For a US visa, each applicant (including children) must complete a separate DS-160 form. This form is only accepted online, and without the barcode on the confirmation page, it is not possible to access the interview. The documents must be complete, and the photo must be current and comply with biometric requirements. The table lists all the required documents in detail, from passport to health insurance.

In general, this guide explains the basic steps, documents, and common mistakes to avoid when applying for a visa for India and the US.
